A Showcase featuring Music, Media, Games & Fashion
Every year our students get together to perform and exhibit to peers, family and friends, sharing all their hard work and achievements throughout the year. This year was no different as we had another fantastic Spring End of Year Showcase for the students of Bexhill at the De La Warr Pavilion with the best guest turnout we’ve ever had!
Our very own Recruitment & Marketing Officer Vicki had the mic throughout the evening, introducing the acts and keeping things rolling smoothly. We had a eclectic selection of live music performances throughout the evening from our Music Production & Performance students demonstrating their talents, energy and ability to captivate the audience. Just a few of the songs played included Pumped Up Kicks by Foster The People, Lay Me Down by Sam Smith, Jenny Don’t Be Hasty by Paolo Nutini and Perfect by Ed Sheeran.
Media Production students premiered their new music videos on the big screen. It was an opportunity to share their hard work and receive feedback from the audience. Media students were also filming and photographing the showcase – every photo opportunity is great practice after all!
The Game Development students had their own computers set up with a showreel of games and 3D assets for everyone to look through. Set up next to Games was Art, Fashion & Design students displaying some of their creative work alongside some small items for sale, plus some of their moodboards documenting projects they’ve worked on such as the Belonging project with the fantastic Morag Myerscough.
Not only did the audience get to witness some brilliant live music and short films, the staff also used the opportunity to congratulate and award the students that have gone above and beyond their year at Dv8. One student from each course was awarded a certificate for outstanding achievement!
Big congratulations to our winners…

We also had a really special award to present that night. The final award went to an incredible young person. This student has had a remarkable journey with us at Dv8 and has been an asset to himself, his peers, his tutors and his family. This award recognises his endless enthusiasm, dedication and hard work. Because of his level of commitment and the example he has set, we have decided to create an annual award in his name, that recognises students who represent the spirit of Dv8.
The Charlie Stoneham Award was presented to Media Production student (you guessed it)… Charlie Stoneham!
Check out Charlie’s excellent documentary which is called Fragile XE syndrome and Me below. More of Charlie’s videos can be found on his YouTube channel here.
Big thanks to the De La Warr Pavilion and everyone that came along to celebrate. We would also like to thank all our wonderful and creative students for their commitment and energy over the last year, we are very proud of you all!
