This week’s tutor shining under the spotlight is Carina, our Digital Media guru! Carina teaches the Social Media & Digital Marketing Apprenticeship and Level 2 Media Production and has been working with Dv8 for many years.

But when Carina isn’t passing on her industry expertise and knowledge here, what is she doing?

Carina’s background includes a mix of performance and corporate work and has lead her to coordinate a mixture of events such as Lost Vagueness/Shangri-La, Glastonbury; Zookie, Gothenburg Carnival and more.

As Creative Director of The Nimbus Group Carina has been leading the design of applications fusing sound woth technology and recently released an app called The Nimbus in collaboration with Chris Watson (founding member of Cabaret Voltaire, world-renowned sound recordist and David Attenborough’s long-term collaborator). Prior to that, Nimbus developed 0-1, the second-ever AI app for iPhone and Android. They are now are currently developing Giddy, an innovative walking tour of Brighton focusing on youth culture since WWII that allows you to time travel with recorded living memories. Their next project will be Home, a sonic house installation and platform for collaboration with sound artists.

Carina is also studying for a PhD, researching the innovative work of Punchdrunk, the immersive theatre company based in London and New York, as a model for post-digital experience and system design.
