Re:Generate

We have a two brilliant new opportunities at Dv8 Sussex! We are re-imagining education and reinventing the workplace for young people with Re:Generate, a project bridging the gap between education and industry. The project is about working with with businesses to create real-life enterprises that small teams of young people will have the opportunity to grow and develop, themselves.

Brighton is one of the largest digital, creative sectors inside the UK, alongside a thriving fashion industry full of small independent, artistic companies. These are both industries crying out for the input and insight of young people, so we decided to spin the usual scenario on its head and put young people in charge of the businesses themselves.

We are now recruiting for two new start up projects that need ambitious quick thinking, driven and hardworking teams of young people to take control and turn ideas into successfully run businesses.

Ruby Moon – Fashion & Design Traineeship

Innovative Fashion business Ruby Moon is recruiting 10 talented young people to lead a new project creating custom beach and summer accessories. The team will learn the digital skills to first design and model their products, researching local markets and then deciding on one key product to go into production with. Sourcing recyclable and sustainable materials for production will be a key element of the project, although the final product will be the groups to choose. Will it be sunglasses made of recycled vinyl records or beach bags made from discarded materials?

Once the product is made it will be time to sell sell sell! Using Ruby Moon’s established distribution routes through trade fairs and online retailing, as well as working with local traders the group will spend the early summer making sure the residents of Brighton are buying the latest must have accessory!

Long Run – Digital Marketing & Communications Traineeship

Long Run Communications is looking for 10 creative, innovative and imaginative young people to create a new youth led arm of successful Marketing and Communications business Long Run Works. This is a sector in which fresh perspectives are rewarded and with Long Run Work’s ever expanding list of clients and London headquarters, this project will provide you with contacts and opportunities to really take that next step and move on into a career in Marketing and PR following the programme.

Knowledge of Marketing and PR and Digital Media is so important in modern business. Large and small companies alike are rethinking how to connect with customers and users as never before across an ever-growing range of digital media platforms. The people buying your product now expect to be involved in your product and company through interaction on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram; they can “like or “share” your brand to thousands of friends, can leave feedback and can make or break a new enterprise overnight. Whilst building a comprehensive inside knowledge of the sector you will put your skills into practise, designing and shaping campaigns for real clients.
