Did you know that our courses don’t just start in September? We have courses running all year round at Dv8 and a range of opportunities for young people not in education, employment or training!
We have three courses still available for people aged 16 – 18 who aren’t currently enrolled on any other courses. They’re particularly suited to Level 1, NEET learners. Each course will be taught by one of our fantastic practising industry professional tutors, ready to pass on their expertise and knowledge.
Opt Into:
Opt Into is an exciting new programme at Dv8 which has only just started! Alongside working on a life plan and essential employment skills those taking part will have the opportunity to explore skills and techniques such as; photography; camerawork; editing; accessory design; software such as Photoshop.
The programme will involve afternoons spent outside of Dv8 exploring various business and creative industries and give the learner opportunities to place themselves in that world exhibiting and selling products. No one attending will be expected to create anything unless they choose to and the focus of the programme is to engage young people and give them the tools for progression in an environment they feel comfortable in. This course is the perfect starting point for people to progress onto our Art & Design or Creative Upload courses.
Course duration : Flexible with a minimum of 30 hours to gain certificate
Course dates : Tuesday & Wednesdays 10.30am – 4pm from October 14th – December 17th

Art & Design
Have you ever wanted to create something exciting and unique? Our Art & Design course isn’t just about painting, it’s about creating. You’ll have the chance to learn digital skills like photography and Photoshop and put them into practise in the real world. You’ll learn how to turn objects from one thing into another, melting, cutting, gluing, drilling and hammering to create something that could be sold in a shop or museum. You’ll learn all about digital and graphic design and how this is used in the world of work. You’ll gain insight into industries like set design and fashion and learn employability skills from industry professionals. And if it’s what you enjoy you’ll have the chance to paint and draw too!
Our Art & Design course is a great progression route for anyone who is on our Opt Into course.
Course duration : 30 weeks

Creative upload: skills for work
Our Creative Upload course was such a success last year, we’re running our second course! With a particular focus on developing real employment skills, creating a digital CV, building confidence and working in a team, learners will form their own production company and develop skills in all kinds of creative projects, such as making an online magazine, releasing an album, being part of a film crew, shooting and editing photos or creating an animation.
Participants will obtain a Bronze Arts Award qualification within the first few weeks, and with genuine industry commissions and their own written job description, they’ll get an insight into what it’s like to be working to deadlines and creating a product for sale. This course includes Functional Skills maths and English, and will provide young people with the opportunity to advance onto further education or onto an Apprenticeship.
