“My names Nikki Sen, and I’m 19 years young.
A couple of interesting facts about me; I’m from a multi-cultural background with family from Greek, Indian and Scottish heritage and when I was younger I wanted to be a rich and famous actress; what young girl doesn’t want to be in the spotlight?
In my spare time I like to go out and about with my SLR camera, this includes being the photographer at a quarterly night out in Hastings called ‘Encapsulated Energy‘. One of those nights meant setting up a photo booth where people could come and get snapped on some cool backdrops; that was exciting!
Before I came to Dv8 Sussex I studied A-levels in Drama, Musical Theatre, Photography and Costume Design at Sussex Downs College in Eastbourne. I liked Drama because it was practical and Photography because I was able to improve the skills of my hobby. Costume design was AWESOME because I could choose, design and make what I wanted to have on the stage – I loved seeing my ideas come to life.
At Dv8 Sussex I studied Level 2 Fashion. I LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT IT!!! They taught me loads of techniques I can develop even more when making clothes. I was surrounded by a lovely support group who became a family to me. The teachers and staff at Dv8 Sussex helped me out with everything I needed, whether it was how to find the circumference of a circle when I was making a skirt, or helping me through the struggle I had when my Mum moved away – they were brilliant. Oh and the best part – they made sure we always had tea and coffee, how lovely is that?!?!?!
I’m now going on to do my Level 3 course in Fashion at Northbrook College. The facilities there are amazing, everything you could need to lead you to brilliance and Dv8 Sussex has helped me get there!”
