It’s that time again when we let the world know about our wonderful and accomplished tutors! This week we are making the world aware of the wonder that is our Level 1 Music tutor Matt Perry (no, not Chandler from Friends, someone much more interesting and less sarcastic).
Matt has been making music for many years and is now specialising in electronic music. He’s also a multi-talented instrumentalist, playing all manner of stringed devices from guitar, to bass and ukulele. Music man Matt currently has his fingers in a variety of sonorous pies; from the likes of Rkadia, an electronic dance production group; and his latest project, The Dead Lights, a rock/blues band in which Matt holds down the groove on his mighty bass.
Experienced as a producer, Matt has recorded bands in studios and worked as a live sound engineer for events such as The Secret Door. Not content with just making other people sound good, Matt writes his own music and has been signed to various record labels around the world including Sub Philo Music (USA), Shivlink Records (India), Rude Bass Records(UK), and Ho-Ju Records (Australia) and distributed worldwide. As well as this, Matt has had his music remixed by other artists a lot! You may have heard his music played on the radio too, it’s been on various stations including the BBC. Collaboration projects haven’t been scarce either… Matt has worked with the likes of Mc LOc-e/Grim Glitch, Singer/songwriter Josie Charlwood and Tim Morris, sound engineer for Enter Shikari. He’s also worked as a session guitarist for superstar house producer Tim Healey. Matt’s music has been played around the world, with The Crystal Method, one of the largest acts to lend their support.
If you’re interested in hearing some of his music, various tracks are available for download on iTunes, Beatport and all the major digital download outlets. He’s currently working on some hip hop, remixing a “Big L” track, Put It On which he plans to give away as a free download in the near future.
Matt’s been sharing his music wisdom and experience for years, starting with guitar tutoring, and moving on to teaching music production and song writing. He enjoys DJing and in the future wants to join a Ska/Reggae band and learn to play the saxophone or trumpet.
Whether you’re an aspiring producer or performer looking to take your first steps into the industry, or you simply love music and want to explore learning new instruments and techniques the amazing Matt will help you get where you want to be. What’s better than being taught by someone has been there and done it and can give you real life advice and experience, and maybe even a funny story or two?! We run Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced courses in Music Production at both our Brighton and Bexhill centres and are currently interview for the 2015/16 year, click here to find out more.
