Events Pitch Photo

For their first project, the Dv8 Events & Promotion Course have been designing music festivals for Victoria Gardens in the centre of Brighton, the original site of electronic festival, Loop.  Two teams created two very different events – a huge pop party with household names headlining the main stage (notably Rita Ora), the other a ska-stomp based on the likes of The Skints and Zion Train.

The two teams worked with music journalist Thomas H Green (also the author of The Telegraph’s annual festival guide) and promoter Ish Ali (creator of the Essential Festival & live promoter who has worked with the likes of James Brown & The Prodigy) to design, schedule, budget and market their festivals before preparing and delivering a professional pitch to a possible investor.

On Wednesday this week, Jeff Hemmings, (festival programmer, music promoter, journalist and radio presenter for RadioReverb) met with the group to hear their pitches and interrogate their business plans before deciding whether to invest or not. The money may not have been for real but the pressure was.

We’re glad to say both Pop in the Park and Something Pretty for the City made a good impression…
