City Limits: Dv8 The Festival was an extraordinary showcase of all our 2014 graduate’s hard work, determination and creativity. The indoor festival was organised and hosted by Level 2 Live Events students Greg Tompsett, Georgina Price and Katie Moore who designed and created rooms with a variety of themes including; a basement warehouse rave space; a high rise stage where all our young and aspiring musicians performed; and a cinema for our media students film work to be showcased. The event also featured a fashion parade of our young designer’s work along the ‘sunset strip’ and a tiki bar for serving mocktail refreshments.

The building was teeming with young people and talent as well as an appreciative and eclectic audience. Our Brighton and Bexhill musicians joined forces to put on some amazing performances. It was inspiring to see the development in the confidence of these future stars. At the beginning of their Dv8 journey the majority of our students had never performed in front of anyone, by the end, they were performing their very own songs in front of their peers, tutors, friends and family.

If music didn’t take your fancy you could pop along to the cinema screening room to view all of the Media Production students incredible videos they have produced throughout the year including a fantastic animation project that they worked on with Gravity animator Daniel Gerhardt.

Needed a break? You were in the right place! Mocktails were served in the exotically decorated tiki bar where the selection on offer included coke-floats, virgin mojito’s and summer sunrise with a selection of nibbles.

To finish the festival off Jarrod AKA DJ Don’t Look put on a showcase of his experimental music in the warehouse rave room which was coated in bubble-wrap and vibrant exploding light machines!

Take a look at some of the fantastic images of the event below taken by former Level 2 Media Production student Yahmina Kesner.

What a year and what a way to see it out and a big thank you, well done and good luck to every amazing and inspiring student we worked with this year. We can’t wait for the next year to begin!
