NXT Audio banner

In early March, as part of our Level 3 Music Production course, our talented Bexhill artists set up a new record label called NXT Audio. NXT has been launched with the purpose of releasing a range of cutting edge singles, EPs, remixes and an album featuring our super-talented Level 3 Bexhill learners.

We are pleased to announce that NXT has finished and released its first EP – Sweet Nightmare EP by Harry Barrow. It’s on sale at most major retailers such as iTunes and Amazon as well being available on Spotify. Sweet Nightmare is a short piece of work crafted as an introduction to Harry as an artist. The EP showcases different types of work and styles from eerie, melodic tracks, to straight up rap tracks with simple messages for the listener.

Harry has already been gaining the attention from artists such as Mikill Pane, Rizzle Kicks and JME. He’s has been gigging around the South-East and taking part in several competitions. He recently made it to the final six to support Rizzle Kicks at their homecoming show at Brighton Dome. Harry’s Harry Barrow Sweet Nightmare After Press Release.

Latest Dv8 Sussex Progressions

Here at Dv8 Sussex we’re always excited by the amazing work and opportunities that our learners go on to enjoy after working with us; here are just a few amazing progression stories from May…

Mona Hattabi has been studying with us at Brighton since September on our the Level 2 Fashion course. We want to give her huge congratulations as she has been accepted onto a 3 year Fashion degree course at Northbrook. The jump from Level 2 to a degree is incredible! It just goes to show what an excellent portfolio can do.

We also want to wish Mona’s sister Nadia a big well done too. Nadia also studies on the Fashion course here with her sister. She will be starting a Foundation fashion course at Northbrook to prepare for her degree when she turns 18.

A big well done ladies!

Lucy Gething has been studying Level 1 Media with us for the best part of a year now. She will be leaving us shortly after completing her Media course as she has been offered a scholarship at Brighton FIlm School. We’d like to congratulate Lucy on getting this brilliant opportunity.

Brighton Film School is something I’ve always wanted to do. Thanks Dv8 for helping me on my chosen path and making lectures around film production accessible, and introducing me to filming.Making my own films is going to be awesome!” – Lucy Gething

Key Stage 4 from Patcham House High School have successfully designed their internet based games

Patcham House High School is a school for pupils aged 11 – 16 with complex needs. Students from years 10/11 have been joining us for a day a week at the Dv8 Brighton campus over the last year to study a beginners Games Design course. The young game designers learnt about character design, sound effects, comic books and using Games Salad to produce 2D games.

The games they have been working on for the last seven weeks have now been completed and have been posted live on to Game Salad arcade. They each show a great variety of imagination and technical accomplishments. All in all it was a fantastic course and we’re very proud of the Patcham House group and our KS4 tutors.

It’s been an absolute pleasure teaching the Patcham House High School games designers. I’ve been amazed by the quality and variety of their character design, comic book stories and, of course, their game designs.  Many of the students are progressing onto FE, some even following up with media related courses, a real achievement and most importantly, really fun.’ – Billy (Tutor)

All of their games can be found and played here.

At Dv8 we pride ourselves on giving young people real industry skills and experience and the aim of these projects is to create a viable and profitable business.
