Rob says his top tools are:
1. Google drive
Know how much you love Microsoft Office? Well, imagine your favourites – Word, Excel and PowerPoint – as a web-based office suite that you can work on together with your colleagues. I use google drive to create word documents, presentations, spreadsheets, forms and drawings that I can share with my team and allow them to edit. The biggest benefit is that I didn’t need to download any software, and I can sign on with any computer or smartphone with Google drive.

2. SurveyMonkey
We use SurveyMonkey quite a lot, mainly for feedback from events and more recently to help put together next year’s events calendar. It’s free, simple to use and you can design your surveys to include your organisation’s logo and colours. Responses are presented in a usable fashion too.

3. GIMP –  GNU Image Manipulation Program
I stumbled upon this accidentally whilst innocently perusing Google. Not really. Ignore the name and this is a handy, free alternative to Photoshop. It’s fairly easy to get to grips with, especially if you just want to do some basic image editing. You can also make Gifs if that’s what you like to do with your time.

4. Skitch
Be gone Print Screen! Skitch is a great tool for taking screenshots or selecting parts of your screen which you can then annotate and share. Web developer hasn’t got a clue what you’re talking about? Open Skitch, screenshot, draw a nice big arrow and send them that instead.

5. Audacity
If you fancy trying your hand at audio editing this is a good place to start. With plenty of effects, the ability to record live audio and multi track options you can put together good, quality content quickly and easily. There are plenty of tutorials online that helped me get stuck.
