A TEAM of Tamworth apprentices have won £3,000 to take their app design into the next stage of development.

Students at Tamworth College, Abby Jackson, aged 19, Tyler Brown Jones, 17, Daniel Lawley, 18 and Joe Hardy, 20, entered the ‘Facebook Challenge’ to design and develop a brand new app or game for the National Apprenticeships Service.

Now the team, who are currently serving apprenticeships via their employers at the NiTP Academy based at Tamworth College, are celebrating success in the competition.

Their app idea was to create an in-depth guide to applying for an apprenticeship.

Their entry was one of just five ideas short-listed to be developed into a prototype beta version. Now the four youngsters will use their £3,000 interim win to fund taking their app design to the next stage of development and hoping for success in the final stage of the competition.

The most successful design after testing will receive a further £10,000 to develop their app or game into a fully functioning product.
