Traineeship PROGRAMME COURSE OVERVIEW

The Traineeship Programme is perfect for young people looking for a taste of what the real working world is like whilst building complimentary creative skills in an exciting thirteen week work placement. Combining a unique opportunity in the workplace and the tailored support offered at college, this is the chance to put yourself at the front of the queue for a truly rewarding career.
 
During your initial induction you will get work ready and build a foundation of skills to support you in the workplace such as; digital marketing, project management, and problem solving. Once in placement you will be supported in the workplace with regular tutor visits. College sessions will include industry speakers and skills workshops in a range of creative industry skills areas. Throughout the programme you will build a portfolio showcasing your skills and achievements, culminating in a graduation ceremony at the end of the programme.
  • We will be starting a new cohort on the week commencing 23rd April. 
  • Students will be placed with employers after joining. 
  • During the April programme students will be able to achieve Functional Skills Level 1 or 2 in Maths and English. Should you join a study programme in September 2019 after completing your traineeship you can obtain a full Maths and English GCSE qualification.
  • Your placement with an employer will run for 13 weeks. Students could be in different placements across the 13 weeks.
  • You will be with your employer for 3 days a week and at Dv8 Sussex for 1-2 days a week.
  • Brighton: Dv8 days are Monday / Tuesday. Students not studying English and Maths have self directed learning in the afternoons.
  • Bexhill: Dv8 days are Tuesday / Wednesday.  Students not studying English and Maths have self directed learning. 

What will i do?

• Complete a paid work placement with an exciting employer over 13 weeks
• Visit a variety of creative businesses and employers
• Meet industry specialists
• Build a portfolio of work showcasing your skills
• Have access to Dv8’s music, media and fashion resources to develop your creative knowledge and skills
• Develop a range of employability skills including problem solving, working to briefs, creative thinking, collaboration, presentation and workplace digital skills
• Previous placements have included Eastbourne Royal Hippodrome, Go Kid Music, Komedia, Big Egg Films, Rialto Theatre, Stick It On

on the TRAINEESHIP programme you will

• Complete a 13 week work placement with relevant employers
• Achieve Level 1 or 2 Maths / English Functional Skills (if not previously attained)
• Earn £10 for each day with an employer
 Progress to an Apprenticeship, a vocational course or to employment in a variety of roles
  • No previous qualifications are required to join the Traineeship Programme. 
  • We cannot accept applicants with a Level 3 or equivalent qualification. 
  • Must be aged between 16-19 (turned 19 after September 1st 2018)
  • As this is a work based study programme you must be ready for the workplace and to commit to a thirteen week work placement
