GCSE MUSIC & ART COURSE OVERVIEW
Dv8 is a specialised provider of courses in the creative subjects, with teachers that have considerable specialist expertise in these areas
Our GCSE courses are predominantly aimed at home-schooled young people wishing to achieve qualifications in creative subjects.
- 1-year or 2-year courses available
- Each course is taught for a half day per week
- Small group sizes (no more than 12 students per group)
- Expert tutors with state-of-the-art resources
- From £22.50 per course (bursaries may be available)
- Taught at our Bexhill centre

WHAT WILL I DO ON THE GCSE MUSIC COURSE?
GCSE music is made up of 3 components:
Performance: ● solo performing ● ensemble performing ● approaches to performing
Composing: ● Developing musical ideas ● Compositional techniques and strategies ● Ensuring technical control and coherence ● Methods of notating composition scores
Appraising Musical elements, musical contexts and musical language: ● Instrumental Music 1700–1820 ● Vocal Music ● Music for Stage and Screen ● Fusions
WHAT WILL I DO ON THE GCSE ART COURSE?
GCSE Art consists of two components:
Component 1: Personal Portfolio: Studentscan choose towork within one of the following titles: Art, Craft and Design; Fine Art; Graphic Communication; Textile Design; Three-dimensional Design; Photography to complete a personal portfolio.
Component 2: Externally Set Assignment: Students presentapersonal response to an externally set broad-based artistic starting point.
