Bexhill Hive: Our New Home
As you may have seen or heard, we have now officially moved into Bexhill Hive in Bexhill town centre. Our students can now make the most of brand new, purpose built classrooms, student support, green screen room, computer rooms and the main common room. It looks great…. if we do say so ourselves!
So why the move?
It was a big decision to make the move to a more central location but the benefits have been huge. We now have larger classrooms, a buzzing common room area and the building is freshly built and fit for purpose as we prepare for more students to join us next year. Plus the opportunity to work with Bexhill Hive was one we couldn’t pass up (read more about Bexhill Hive below).
What is Bexhill Hive?

To actively contribute to the economic growth and regeneration of Bexhill by establishing a well resourced, high quality, creative learning centre in Bexhill town centre.
Bexhill Hive will become a hub for creative learning and development for both young people and adults that wish to develop the skills to work in the creative and digital industries as well as a space for the creative community to gather, share ideas, learn and develop new skills, perform and take part in creative, inspiring activities.
Bexhill is a town with huge potential to develop as a creative hub within the region. By providing a safe, high quality, alternative space for young people and adults to develop creative vocational skills as well as core skills in English and Maths, employability and enterprise, Bexhill Hive will both attract young people to stay in the town to learn and develop as well as act as a magnet for creative business to draw on the best young talent in the region.
Training programmes within the centre will be led by employers and creative professionals, students will set up their own enterprises and Bexhill Hive will launch programmes to help incubate and support new creative start-ups in the town and surrounding areas.
The space will contain a mixture of teaching and learning spaces, equipped with creative industry standard computers and software, as well as rehearsal spaces and a recording studio for musicians and performers, media editing suites and a photographic studio space.
Bexhill Hive will house a mixture of government-funded 16-19 Study Programmes, , Traineeships and schools support programmes in partnership with Dv8 Sussex, as well as housing Business Incubation space, a music studio, practice rooms and “maker space” in the basement. The centre will also offer creative community activities in the evenings and weekends. The Hive will quickly establish itself at the centre of the
creative community in the town, as a place to learn, gather, share ideas and support the next generation of talent to flourish.
– we can solve any problem and improve any situation by thinking differently, flexibly and laterally
– we can turn good ideas into sustainable products and services that change the world for the better
– we are part of an eco-system that thrives and grows when we all collaborate and share our collective resources
– we must always look ahead, guiding and empowering our young people to be leaders, problem-solvers and innovators in their own right
– we can do anything and be anyone if we listen, learn and find opportunity
– we are not interested in where you come from, but in where you want to go – the only qualification you need to thrive in Bexhill Hive is a desire to do it.
Between 9am-4pm during term time, the space will house a range of education programmes delivered by Dv8 Sussex, including provision in partnership with local schools, vocational Study Programmes in music, media and live events for 16-18 year olds from Level 1 (pre GCSE) to Level 3 (A level)
Through partnership with the De La Warr Pavilion we aim to launch a business incubation space on the top floor, offering desk space, office hire, training for businesses and their employees as well as other creative industries networking events.
Evening and weekend provision, offering much more informal programmes and activities for the local community will be developed further through fundraising and developed through the year. Initial plans include school holiday activity programmes, coding clubs, networked games sessions, short programmes for community learning, private training courses and hire of the space.
Once fully developed, the basement space will contain a music studio and rehearsal rooms, offering a facility for local musicians and performance groups that would otherwise have to travel out of town and providing a source of revenue for the building on-going
