James Turnbull

Is there anything better than taking a course in Live Events and being taught by a tutor who already works in the industry? We think not!

Meet James Turnbull! He wears a couple of different hats outside of Dv8…

James is the Programmer at The Old Market. TOM as it is also known has a 300 seated/500 standing capacity and it is situated on the Brighton/Hove border.  As Programmer, James is ultimately the guy who decides what acts will and won’t be on at the venue. The venue features a wide range of acts from theatre and comedy, to music and dance. Just some of the many, many people to have performed there include Mac Demarco, Toy, Alice Russell, Sean Walsh and Miranda – “Such fun”!

This autumn they have lined up Mark Watson, Tim Key, Jim Jones Revue and Hawkwind. Oh yes!

On top of all of that, James is also the Director at Otherplace Productions, a venue management company creating and running venues in Brighton, including The Warren for Brighton Fringe. This alone saw through a staggering 25,000 people in 2014 seeing performances from theatre, comedy and live music from MNEK, Klaxons, George Ezra, and Keisza for The Great Escape.

So if you want to learn the nitty, gritty planning and production for putting on a live event and get taught by a fantastic, practising industry tutor like James, apply today as we have one space remaining on our Level 2 Live Events course!
