We were delighted be part of the launch of our shiny new home for DV8 Bexhill on Tuesday 18th July, welcome to Bexhill Hive.
Bexhill Hive is a hub for creative learning and development for both young people and adults that wish to develop the skills to work in the creative and digital industries as well as a space for the creative community to gather, share ideas, learn and develop new skills and take part in creative activities. The space contains a mixture of teaching and learning spaces, equipped with creative industry standard computers and software, as well as rehearsal spaces, media editing suites and a green screen studio space.
Last Tuesday the bunting was up, the sun was shining and the building was full of local entrepreneurs, business holders, schools, training providers, press and even councillors Joy Hughes and Jim Carroll. The excitement for the new social enterprise and CIC space was infectious as attendees collaboratively came up with ideas, projects and partnerships to bring to the creative hub and benefit the community.
Postcards with ideas ranging from radio space, adult learning provision and monthly community network meetings were pinned to the ‘feedback’ wall to present to the building’s directors. Currently the building is full of NCS (National Citizen Service) students taking part in summer workshops and our DV8 Bexhill students return in September but we can’t wait to see what the future has in store for our new home!
